"As we attempt to clear up a minor technical difficulty, I would like to begin one of our minor programs, "Today and Historical Significance". This week, we are concentrating on the history of the TELEGRAPH, and we begin in 1894. In 1894, on this day, Arthur Rodenberry, General Supervisor of the Philadelphia transfer station, performed his weekly line test on all the Telegraph wires. Unbeknownst to him, a special wire had been installed connecting the White House to the HOOVER DAM! Noone is certain, to this day, whether HOOVER himself, or our ignorant General Supervisor, was the actual progenitor of the dynamite blasts that began the construction of the HOOVER DAM!"
